First, lets look at exactly how websites are evaluated by search engine companies such as Google and MSN Live. Search engine companies have automated “spider bots” that crawl around the web “indexing” websites. They use a top secret algorithm that checks your website against several factors to decide where it should rank in their search results. So just what are these factors that these spiders use to check your site? Well since all the search engine companies keep this a closely guarded secret, and they are changed almost weekly, know one can really know for sure, but a few things are widely accepted as a must for a decent ranking.

First and foremost in regards to search engine optimization or SEO for short is content, period. If you do not have expert content, and a good amount of it, then why should you rank at the top of a search engine? The answer is you shouldn’t. The higher up you are in a search engine, the more your web site should be an expert on whatever topic is being searched out. So if you have very little content, of which, most is not really good information, the spiders usually can detect that, thus reflecting in a poor ranking in the search results.

Second, is the topic that is being searched out. Lets face it, you can not come up number one on every word you can possibly think of that describes your site, there is just too much competition. So try to pick a few words that a potential customer is likely to search for, and try to have your web site content reflect them.

Third is titling your pages accurately. People often make the mistake of placing the name of their company, or what the page is, for example “about us”. Instead, make the title similar to the key word phrase you want to people to search for, then make sure the text on the page reflects on that title.

The rest of it really falls into place on its own. Things have been discussed like heading tags, bolded and italicized words, which help, but again, concentrate on the content and the ranking should follow. Remember also that this is not an over night thing, it can take several months before you come up at all, let alone in a good ranking. It is generally accepted that linking to and from other sites help, but be careful, the spiders are not dumb. They can figure out that you have linked to a bunch of ghost sites to try to “cheat” your way up, which could result in a ban for that search engine, that would be very bad.

Frequent updates are also good for better rankings, when spiders see that things are constantly being updated, that weighs much more than a site that has not been touched in months, or years even. Design your site for the end user, not for the search engines, and after time you will see improvement in your rankings.

Have you ever seen an advertisement and thought, “who in the world did this small business marketing piece?” Maybe it was something you received in the mail, or a brochure or flyer you came across, but you didn’t even take time to look at it because it was so poorly designed or possibly even inappropriate. In short, the way your customers perceive your advertising is a direct reflection of your company image.

When you begin a marketing campaign, whether passing out flyers or bulk mailing literature, and your advertisement looks cheap or rushed, then your company and the products or services you are advertising will too. Image is everything. Potential customers will associate a bad advertisement with “who you are” as a business, thus taking their business elsewhere. This happens far too often as the price of advertising services sky rocket and companies try to go it alone in marketing their business.

With Expert Design you don’t have to do it yourself and hope it works. We will give you the professional look you desire without depleting your company’s bank account. Your company doesn’t have to risk coming off with a bad image to your prospective clients because you are trying to save money.

Expert Design was born out of this need for small businesses to have effective, great looking direct mail pieces, brochures, web sites and image at an EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE COST. How does Expert Design offer all these professional high dollar services at a fraction of the cost? Simple, low overhead and all aspects of your project will be done in-house. We do not have separate Art Directors, Creative Directors, Designers, Copywriters and Coordinators which all require a handsome salary. With experience as the Marketing Director and Head Designer for different companies, the owner and Chief Designer at Expert Design developed a unique skill set in all these areas. The result is the ability to create for our customer, fantastic and professional marketing pieces for a fraction of what larger advertising agencies would. Also, because everything is done in house, we get your project completed in less time while giving you the personalized service you need.

Your time and image is too valuable to your company to waste it on marketing that hinders more than it helps. Give Expert Design a chance to do what we do best: reaching your target market through positive and professional marketing. It is one of the best moves your small business can make.

Is your business open right now? How about past 8:00pm? Imagine if you could be open every night of the week without actually being there. Sounds pretty good, but it is more important than just sounding good, it is an absolute must in today’s fast paced business world. Your web site is a non-stop, 24 hour a day, 7 day a week interactive advertisement. Companies who either do not have a web site or the site they do have is unattractive, hard to navigate, outdated or a combination of all of these is losing a massive amount of income potential. If you own a business, you must have a great, well organized and attractive web site.

For most small business, web development is an extremely cost effective tool. After the initial design and setup the only costs associated with it are a nominal monthly fee from the hosting company and, if changes to the site are necessary over time, our hourly fee for making those changes. So, for minimal investment you can have advertising around the clock, even after hours.

Whether your site just needs to be informative, or you actually want your customers to be able to buy your products, or register for events, you need to have one now. At Expert Design we can build you a simple, informative site, or a complex money making online venture. We have many one-off templates designed that we can just input your information and graphics if you want to save a little money. This is a great way to get your site up quickly and is more cost effective than designing a site from the ground up. However, our services are economical and often we can design you a custom built web site for much less than you would think, contact us today or stop by our office in Louisville KY to talk about it!
